The Prognostic Value of Left Atrial Deformation Parameters for Sudden Arrhythmic Events in Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) represents the most common inherited cardiomyopathy, with an estimated prevalence of 0.2% in the general population. The clinical spectrum of HCM ranges from severe heart failure to mild or even asymptomatic disease. However, the most devastating event in the natural history of HCM is sudden cardiac death (SCD) due to arrhythmic events.1 As a result, risk stratification is critical in order to identify suitable patients for implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) for SCD primary prevention.
