Allergists/Immunologists Contextualize and Provide Relevance to Immunology in a Preclerkship Undergraduate Medical Education Curriculum

A call to develop more clinician educators in allergy and immunology was recently published. 1 The authors communicated the paucity of Allergy/Immunology (A/I) specialists focused on medical education. This will foreseeably result in diminishing interest in the field of A/I for medical students and residents due to reduced exposure to these specialists. Waning interest in A/I as a career is already reflected in the declining numbers of candidates for every A/I fellowship position (1.7 in 2010 as compared to 1.2 in 2020).
