A New 27-Norcucurbitane Triterpenoid from the Fruits of Momordica charantia var. abbreviata

A new 27-norcucurbitane triterpenoid, 5β,19-epoxy-3β-hydroxy-19(R)-methoxy-27-norcucurbita-6,23(E)-dien-25-one (1), was isolated from the fruits ofMomordica charantia var.abbreviata. Its structure was elucidated by spectroscopic analyses including 1D and 2D NMR (1H,13C, COSY, HMQC, HMBC, and NOESY) and comparison with the data of known analogues.
