How does ridesourcing substitute for public transit network?

(Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART)) Researchers at Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) used ridesourcing data from Chengdu, China to investigate the relationship between ridesourcing and public transit. The study found that one-third of ridesourcing substitutes public transit, with the substitution effect more common in city-centers.
