Induction, treatment, and prevention of temporomandibular joint ankylosis – a systematic review of comparative animal studies

Several animal models of temporomandibular joint ankylosis (TMJA) have been described over the last 2 decades. The aim of this study is twofold: (1) to compile and summarize the evidence of animal studies that compare different forms to induce, treat (disease already established), or prevent (following trauma) TMJA, and (2) to address the following focused question: What is the quality of reporting in these studies?
