Ventricular-vascular coupling in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a challenging and significant public health problem1. It has now been reported to be the most common type of heart failure,1,2 with the prevalence relative to heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), increasing at an alarming rate of 1% per year.1 Epidemiological studies2 –4 support a heterogeneous group of HFpEF patients who generally tend to be older women with multiple co-morbidities such as chronic hypertension, obesity, atrial fibrillation and diabetes mellitus.
