Does repositioning of temporomandibular joint disc with bone anchors provide better clinical outcomes than conventional disc plication procedures for anterior disc displacements without reduction in patients refractory to non surgical treatments?

Although open temporomandibular joint (TMJ) arthroplasty with discopexy is a common treatment for patients with anterior disc displacements without reduction (ADDWo) unresponsive to medical management, there are no studies in literature comparing disc repositioning with bone anchors and conventional discopexy procedure. The purpose of the study was to compare the efficacy of disc repositioning with bone anchors to the conventional discopexy procedure for ADDWo of TMJ refractory to medical management.
