One-Stage Full Mouth Instrumentation (OSFMI): Clinical Outcomes of an Innovative Protocol for the Treatment of Severe Periodontitis.
CONCLUSION: The OSFMI protocol led to clinical results comparable to those obtained with traditional SRP. Researchers are encouraged to test this protocol in randomized clinical trials with longer periods of observation. PMID: 32655038 [PubMed - in process]

CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of upper gastrointestinal bleeding due to peptic ulcers and erosions was found to be lower than previously demonstrated in comparable studies, but the overall mortality rate was unchanged. The consumption of risk medication was high, and only a few patients had used prophylactic PPIs. Concurrent H. pylori infection was present in only one-third of the patients. CONCLUSION: Smoking, preoperative hypoalbuminemia, obesity, and high ASA scores (3 and 4) were the prognostic factors for evisceration. Short-term modifiable factors such as smoking cessation and improved nutritional status should be considered in elective gynecological-oncology surgeries. Evisceration had no impact on survival and recurrence in the patients with primary advanced stage epithelial ovarian-tubal-peritoneal cancer patients. Key words: Evisceration, hypoalbuminemia, obesity, smoking, survival, wound dehiscence. PMID: 32927929 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
This study reviewed the complications of LC in children. MEDLINE/PubMed, CENTRAL and Lilacs were reviewed for LC. Studies in patients ≤ 18 years of age published in English, Portuguese or Spanish were selected by two independent reviewers. Data were collected for patients’ characteristics, surgical information, complications, mortality and follow-up. Twenty-four papers were identified and offered 2783 patients. Mean age was 11 years (3 months–18 years). In the 93/2783 (3.3%) complications, single-port procedures were associated with seven (7.5%), 3/4-port with 81 (87.1%) an...
