Health-related quality of life after accelerated breast irradiation in five fractions: a comparison with fifteen fractions
The standard treatment of breast cancer includes a combination of treatment modalities, such as surgery, radiotherapy (RT), chemotherapy and endocrine therapy. RT is administered after breast conserving surgery (BCS) to reduce the risk of locoregional recurrences and improve overall survival[1 –3]. However, RT can cause acute and late toxicity, resulting in a negative impact on health-related quality of life (HRQoL)[4–7]. Breast pain after RT has an important impact on different items of HRQoL[8].
