Quality of Life and Patient Satisfaction After Antibiotic Therapy vs Appendectomy

To the Editor We read with great interest the article by Sippola et al, “Quality of Life and Patient Satisfaction at 7-Year Follow-up of Antibiotic Therapy vs Appendectomy for Uncomplicated Acute Appendicitis: A Secondary Analysis of a Randomized Clinical Trial.” This is a post hoc analysis of patients enrolled in the Appendicitis Acuta (APPAC) trial out of Finland. The topic of nonsurgical management of acute appendicitis (AA) is under debate, with challenges to the gold standard of appendectomy. We extend our gratitude toward the authors for their impactful work. However, we wish to raise a few questions.
