Worldwide, there are approximately 2 billion children and adolescents, up to 20% of them experience mental disorders, creating a public health crisis that can no longer be ignored (World Health Organization [WHO], 2012). Children with mental disorders face major challenges including stigma, bullying, isolation, and discrimination; these challenges put them at risk for lack of access to health care and interruptions in their education. All too often, they also face risk to violation of their fundamental human rights (Wainberg et al., 2017).
