In this study, we examined the effects of oxytocin on the Aβ-induced impairment of synaptic plasticity in mice. To investigate the effect of oxytocin on synaptic plasticity, we prepared acute hippocampal slices for extracellular recording and assessed long-term potentiation (LTP) with perfusion of the Aβ active fragment (Aβ25-35) in the absence and presence of oxytocin. We found that oxytocin reversed the impairment of LTP induced by Aβ25-35 perfusion in the mouse hippocampus. These effects were blocked by pretreatment with the selective oxytocin receptor antagonist L-368,899. Furthermore, the tr...

Numbers 6 is one of the more puzzling chapters in the Torah. It isn't clear what the point is of being a Nazirite (spelled Nazarite in the KJV) or why somebody would want to do it. Apparently there was considerable Talmudic debate about this but they never got to a consensus. By declaring oneself a Nazirite, a person assumes exactly three restrictions: don't cut the hair, don't consume any products of the plant genus Vitis (not just alcoholic wine) and don't get near a corpse. Other than that there are no affirmative responsibilities and you can do whatever else you want. This is apparently a state of special " consec...

This study utilized the Oncopig Cancer Model to develop a translational porcine HCC model which can serve as a bridge between murine studies and human clinical practice. Reliable development of Oncopig HCC cell lines was demonstrated through hepatocyte isolation and Cre recombinase exposure across 15 Oncopigs. Oncopig and human HCC cell lines displayed similar cell cycle lengths, alpha-fetoprotein production, arginase-1 staining, chemosusceptibility, and drug metabolizing enzyme expression. The ability of Oncopig HCC cells to consistently produce tumors in vivo was confirmed via subcutaneous (SQ) injection into immunodefic...
