Twists and Turns: An Unusual Intra-Abdominal Cause of Heart Failure

Acute heart failure is the rapid onset of signs and symptoms of heart failure and is commonly precipitated by cardiac ischemia and uncontrolled hypertension.1 Sigmoid volvulus is the twisting of the sigmoid colon around itself and its mesentery.2 This case highlights the important association of elevated intra-abdominal pressure and heart failure.
