A young man with palpitations

A 32-year-old male of African descent presented to the Emergency Department (ED) with palpitations lasting for several hours that day. He was previously diagnosed with arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) and had an implanted cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) and permanent pacemaker (PPM), recently checked and found to be functioning correctly by his primary electrophysiologist. He was also on sotalol 80 mg twice a day. He had no history of smoking, consuming alcohol, or illicit drugs.
