The Association of Increased FFP:RBC Transfusion Ratio to Primary Graft Dysfunction in Bleeding Lung Transplantation Patients
LUNG TRANSPLANTATION (LT), an established intervention for patients with end-stage lung disease, is associated with a significant risk of bleeding and blood transfusion. Approximately 90% of recipients require transfusion during LT.1,2 Factors that contribute to bleeding in LT include a bilateral procedure, surgical complexity, and the presence of lung scarring, adhesions, and inflammation, concomitant procedures, anticoagulation, and use of mechanical circulatory support.
