The role of ginsenoside Rb1 in bone homeostasis.

The role of ginsenoside Rb1 in bone homeostasis. Curr Stem Cell Res Ther. 2020 Jun 28;: Authors: Yang B, Zhao S, Yan L Abstract Panax ginseng,as a well-known medical plant with economic value, has a long history of use for treating various diseases in Asian. Accumulating clinical and experimental evidences suggest that ginsenoside Rb1,which is the major bioactive components of the plant, have a variety of biological effects on treating aging related diseases such as: cardiovascular disease (CVD), central nervous system disease (CNSD), and osteoporosis (OP). Recently, considerable attentions have been focused on ginsenoside Rb1 as an anti-osteoporosis agent. It has been reported that ginsenoside Rb1 could promote osteoblast differentiation by up-regulating the expression of RNUX2 protein / regulating the Wnt / βcatenin signaling pathway. Besides that, studies also demonstrated that ginsenoside Rb1 could inhibit the NF-κB receptor activation (RANKL) activity, thereby achieving the curative effect of preventing osteoporosis. Therefore, this article aim to review the research progress of the mechanism of ginsenoside Rb1 in preventing and treating osteoporosis, with a view to providing reference for further research on the anti-osteoporosis effect of this natural compound.
