Former Missouri hospital leader is charged in $1.4B billing scheme

The former CEO of a North Kansas City-based hospital operator has been charged, along with nine others, in an indictment that alleges the group participated in a $1.4 billion pass-through billing scheme at rural hospitals.   One of the affected hospitals was Putnam County Memorial Hospital in Unionville, Mo., according to Monday's unsealed indictment.
