Disentangling Associations of Children's Sports Participation and Compulsive Exercise With Parenting Practices and Child Disordered Eating Behavior

Exercise can enhance health and well-being. Exercise can also, when it is highly driven and compulsive, reflect eating disorder psychopathology. The present study examined associations of compulsive exercise and youth athletics with child disordered eating behaviors (overeating, binge eating, and secretive eating) and with parenting practices related to eating and weight, including how parents talk to their children about weight.
