Perceived social support and depression symptoms in patients with major depressive disorder in Taiwan: An association study

This study analyzes the association between social support and depression symptoms of inpatients with major depressive disorder. A total of 160 inpatients were recruited from the acute psychiatric ward of a medical center in northern Taiwan between July 1, 2015, and December 31, 2016. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, simple linear regression and multiple linear regression. Our results reveal that patient depression level is significantly associated with gender, age, marital status, education, occupation and number of admissions due to depression.
