A Pain in the Neck: Pharyngeal Wall Erosion and Extrusion of Endovascular Coils After Endovascular Internal Carotid Artery Pseudoaneurysm Coiling Post-Tonsillectomy
We report the case of a 7-year-old female who presented to the emergency department (ED) with halitosis and throat discomfort after endovascular coiling of internal carotid artery (ICA) pseudoaneurysm that was the result of complications after tonsillectomy. She was found to have pharyngeal wall erosion with extrusion of the endovascular coils, a rare and potentially life-threatening complication of ICA coiling.
