Early Hypermetabolism is Uncommon in Trauma ICU Patients.

CONCLUSION: Only a minority of injured patients is hypermetabolic in the first week after injury. Elevated temperature, penetrating mechanism, and burn mechanism are independently associated with sustained hypermetabolism.
