Endovascular Treatment of Tracheocarotid Fistula

A 27-year-old patient with Duchenne syndrome developed massive intratracheal bleeding during his routine tracheostomy change. Computed tomography (CT) angiography showed a common origin of the carotid arteries, aberrant right subclavian artery, and hypoplastic right vertebral artery originating from the right common carotid artery (CCA). The cuff of the endotracheal tube, at its maximum hyperinflation, appeared in contact with the back of CCA. A tracheocarotid fistula from the posterior wall of the right CCA was seen during cuff deflation (Fig 1).
