Antioxidant agent may prevent chronic kidney disease and Parkinson's disease

(Osaka University) Researchers from Osaka University developed a novel dietary silicon-based antioxidant agent with renoprotective and neuroprotective effects. They showed in animals models of chronic kidney disease and Parkinson's disease that the intake of their agent protects the kidney and brain, respectively, from taking further damage. These findings could provide new insights into the treatment of patients with these diseases.
