Simulation and measurement of microbeam dose distribution in lung tissue
Worldwide, lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer related death in men and second in women and made up for around 12% of new cancer cases in the year 2018 [1]. The 5 year survival ranges between 10 and 20%. Radiation Therapy is a key component of interdisciplinary treatment. However, treatment with radiation therapy is often limited, especially in patients with large volume tumors or reduced pulmonary function, as normal lung tissue is extremely radiation sens itive in terms of dose and volume.
