Projects funded to assess the economic and societal benefits of satellites

(Resources for the Future (RFF)) Satellite data can be used to make decisions that improve economic and societal outcomes. A partnership between NASA and Resources for the Future quantifies the value of satellite data along with the economic and societal benefits. This partnership -- the Consortium for the Valuation of Applications Benefits Linked to Earth Science (VALUABLES) -- has chosen three winning proposals for research quantifying the benefits of satellite data in decisions that improve socioeconomic outcomes for people and/or the environment.
