More than 100 years have elapsed since in 1916 Thomas Jonnesco performed the first left cardiac sympathetic denervation (LCSD) in a patient with intractable angina and the interest for the procedure waxed and waned over the years1,2. Once it became clear that LCSD had a role in managing the long QT syndrome (LQTS)3, questions about its mechanism(s) of action were addressed in the experimental laboratory4.
