This study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of PNR and PWR in acute ischemic stroke patients treated with EVT. METHODS: Poor functional outcome was defined as Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) of 3-6 at 3 months, Symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) was diagnosed based on CT scan and classified according to the criterial of Heidelberg Bleeding Classification. Binary logistical regression was used to analyze the relationship of PWR, PNR with functional outcome and symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH). RESULTS: Patients with good prognosis had higher PNR and PWR value (29 vs. 24, P=0.002) (22 vs. 19, P...

Conclusion Careful management may be required for patients undergoing gastric ESD under continued aspirin treatment in addition to HR of anticoagulant agents; although the delayed bleeding risk after gastric ESD under HR of anticoagulant agents might have decreased over the years. Authors: Ido K, Nakane T, Tanizawa N, Makuuchi Y, Okamura H, Koh S, Nanno S, Nishimoto M, Hirose A, Nakamae M, Nakashima Y, Koh H, Hino M, Nakamae H Abstract A 53-year-old man presented with uncontrolled bleeding caused by acquired platelet dysfunction accompanied by calreticulin-mutated primary myelofibrosis. Based on the detection of abnormal platelets, including large gray platelets, under light microscopy and the loss of the second wave of aggregation observed by light transmission aggregometry, the patient was diagnosed with platelet dysfunction accompanied by myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). In addition, ...

Authors: Moosajee S, Rafique S Abstract In an age when people are living longer and medical interventions are continually becoming more advanced, clinicians will need to be aware of systemic disorders and treatments that may cause complications in the dental setting. The Office for National Statistics' projections state that 26% of the UK population will be aged over 65 years by 2041.1 Therefore, clinicians may often encounter patients who complain of prolonged bleeding following certain procedures, most commonly dental extractions. In the majority of cases, the cause is often a local one, which can be managed usin...

Small cell tumors arise from the neuroendocrine cell system and they are most frequently found in the lung (SCLC). Small cell tumor could occasionally arise in other body sites, such as the cervix, prostate, gastrointestinal tract, and very rarely from other sites. Metastatic SCLC patients present with metastatic disease in 80% of cases, and the metastases typically are reported in brain, liver, lung, and bone; they rarely could be found in the ovary. Differently, primitive small cell carcinoma of the ovary of pulmonary type is a rare and highly aggressive tumor arising from the ovarian cells; no suitable treatment strateg...

This study aimed to examine  the complications by comparing two surgeons simultaneous bilateral total knee arthroplasty (two-surgeon bilateral TKA) to one surgeon sequential bilateral total knee arthroplasty (single-surgeon bilateral TKA).MethodsTwo hundred forty-six participants were prospectively randomized into two groups: two-surgeon bilateral TKA and single-surgeon bilateral TKA. While two surgeons performed simultaneous total knee arthroplasty in the two-surgeon bilateral TKA group, one surgeon performed sequentially in the single-surgeon bilateral TKA group. Ninety-day major, and minor complications rate, opera...
