The fibroblastic T cell niche in lymphoid tissues.

The fibroblastic T cell niche in lymphoid tissues. Curr Opin Immunol. 2020 Jun 01;64:110-116 Authors: Fletcher AL, Baker AT, Lukacs-Kornek V, Knoblich K Abstract Fibroblastic reticular cells (FRCs) are a necessary immunological component for T cell health. These myofibroblasts are specialized for immune cell support and develop in locations where T and B lymphocyte priming occurs, usually secondary lymphoid organs, but also tertiary lymphoid structures and sites of chronic inflammation. This review describes their dual supportive and suppressive functions and emerging evidence on the co-ordination required to balance these competing roles.
