The effect of iatrogenic subclinical hyperthyroidism on anxiety, depression and quality of life in differentiated thyroid carcinoma.
CONCLUSION: LT4-induced SCH, which is a part of traditional DTC treatment, can exacerbate the anxiety symptoms in patients and disrupt their quality of life, depending on the level of fT4. PMID: 32490648 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
Authors: Shay E, Sangwan N, Padmanabhan R, Lundy S, Burkey B, Eng C Abstract The etiology of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is not fully understood. While risk factors such as positive human papilloma virus (HPV) status, smoking and tobacco use have been identified, they do not account for all cases of the disease. We aimed to characterize the bacteriome, mycobiome and mycobiome-bacteriome interactions of oral wash in HNSCC patients and to determine if they are distinct from those of the oral wash of matched non-HNSCC patients. Oral wash samples were collected from 46 individuals with HNSCC and 46 co...
CONCLUSIONS: The most common IED behavioural subtypes in these general population samples are associated with high rates of externalising disorders. This contrasts with the findings from clinical studies of IED, which observe a preponderance of internalising disorder comorbidity. This disparity in findings across population and clinical studies, together with the marked heterogeneity that characterises the diagnostic entity of IED, suggests that it is a disorder that requires much greater research. CONCLUSIONS: This study suggests that it is the effect that physical illness has on a person's life, in terms of disruption to daily activity, rather than the number of conditions that predicts suicide risk, especially at younger ages. Improved awareness and better management of mental wellbeing of individuals with physical health conditions may help to reduce suicides, especially in younger people. Traumatic brain injury is known to cause depression, even years after it occurs. New research shows that repetitive hits to the head, even without concussive symptoms, can have a similar effect.Medscape Medical News

Contributors : Ming Liu ; Rui ZhaoSeries Type : Expression profiling by array ; Non-coding RNA profiling by arrayOrganism : Homo sapiensWe explored the whole expression profiles of transcriptome included miRNA, circRNA, lncRNA and mRNA in 5 pairs of LSCC and matched non-LSCC tissues by microarrayThe LSCC-related competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) networks were constructed based on these microarray data.
