Tracer uptake outside striata and caudate on 18F-FDOPA PET/MR identifies Parkinsonian patients

Conclusion: We demonstrated the ability of the tracer uptake in the diencephalon, brainstem and other cortical and subcortical regions not usually considered - and in particular the amygdala - to distinguish Parkinsonian from control subjects in 18F-FDOPA PET data. These preliminary results are a first step towards the use of such data for the diagnosis and differentiation of Parkinsonian syndromes. Acknowledgments: C.
