Effects of trans-retinoic acid (tRA) and Dexamethasone (DEX) on sodium/iodide symporter mediated [18F]-tetrafluoroborate uptake in breast cancer cells
Conclusion: NIS mediated [18F] TFB uptake is evidenced in MCF-7 breast cancer cells and similar to [99mTc] pertechnetate. Uptakes of iodide analog tracers were significantly increased by combined tRA and DEX pre-treatment for 24 h. Further animal studies are required to evaluate the potential use of [18F] TFB in breast cancer diagnosis and patient selection for radioiodide therapy.
