ER stress induces epithelial differentiation in the mouse oesophagus

Conclusions These results show that ER stress induces epithelial differentiation in precursor cells in the oesophageal epithelium. This UPR induced differentiation may serve as a quality control mechanism that protects against oesophageal cancer development.
