Abstract
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), also known as acne inversa, is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the pilosebaceous units. To date, studies on the risk of keratinocyte carcinoma (KC), defined as basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), among HS patients have been limited. We performed a case-control study comparing the incidence of BCC and SCC in HS patients (cases) to that in acne vulgaris patients (controls), which is also an inflammatory disorder of the pilosebaceous unit.
