Should endometrial biopsy under direct hysteroscopic visualization using the grasp technique become the new gold standard for the preoperative evaluation of the patient with endometrial cancer?

CONCLUSIONS: Preoperative hysteroscopic guided "grasp" endometrial biopsy provides a more accurate diagnosis of EC histology type and tumor grade when in presence of endometrioid type tumor compared to blind endometrial biopsy obtained using the Novak curette. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between sarcomas and LS by performing clinical and molecular characterization of patients presenting co-occurrence of sarcomas and tumors from the LS spectrum. We identified 27 patients diagnosed with CRC, EC, and other LS-associated tumors who had ...

Abstract Recent retrospective studies of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) disease (COVID-19) revealed that the patients with common comorbidities of cancers and chronic diseases face significantly poorer clinical outcomes than those without. Since the expression profile of ACE2, a crucial cell entry receptor for SARS-CoV-2, could indicate the susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 infection, here we systematically dissected ACE2 expression using large-scale multi-omics data from 30 organs/tissues, 33 cancer types and some common chronic diseases involving>28 000 samples. It was found that...

ARID1A alterations would compromise mismatch repair pathway and increase the number of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes and PD-L1 expression in some cancers, which would cooperate with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) treatment. However, a comprehensive analysis of ARID1A alteration frequency and its predictive value for ICI treatment outcome in cancers has not yet been investigated. Hence, we performed this pan-cancer analysis to evaluate the prevalence and predictive value of ARID1A alterations across>40,000 cases in multiple cancer types. We found a high frequency (6.2%) of ARID1A, which were associated with signifi...

Endometrial carcinoma(EC) is the most common cancer of female reproductive system, thus requiring for new effective biomarkers which could predict the onset of EC and poor prognosis. Our study integrated two GEO datasets(i.e.GSE63678, GSE17025) and TCGA(The Cancer Genome Atlas ) UCEC data to screen out 344 common differentially expressed genes(DEGs), which were further analyzed by GO(gene ontology) functions and KEGG(Kyoto Encyclopedia of Gene and Genome) pathways. KEGG analysis results showed these DEGs were mainly enriched in cell cycle, oocyte meiosis, cellular senescence, carbon metabolism and p53 signaling pathway. To...

Endometrial carcinoma (EC) is the most common malignant tumors in female derived from the endometrial epithelium. Several previous studies have described estrogen receptors (ER), progesterone Receptor (PR) and phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) are associated with clinicopathological factors and prognosis in EC patients. However, during EC patients follow-up, we found that some EC patients with down-regulation of PTEN, but up-regulation of ER or PR , and some EC patients with down-regulation of ER or PR, but up-regulation of PTEN also had a poor prognosis. Therefore, to reveal the prognosis of EC patients with different...

Conclusions: DRG neurons promote metastasis of EC cells via GluR2, which might be a risk factor for PNI in EC. Moreover, the perineural system may promote tumor invasion and metastasis under certain circumstances.

Purpose: To evaluate the value of 18F-FDG positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) for determining the presence of residual tumors after curettage in patients with endometrial cancer. Methods: Preoperative 18F-FDG PET/CT was performed in 90 women with endometrial cancer. PET/CT parameters and clinical characteristics were compared between patients with and without residual tumors. The clinical characteristics of patients with residual tumors that showed low 18F-FDG uptake were also analyzed. Results: Among the 90 patients, 86 had residual tumors. ROC analysis identified a lesion SUVmax value of 5.0 as the ...
