Are Your Lungs at Risk?

As our national lockdown drags on, the media repeats the same message… Isolation is the only solution. You must stay home, avoid other people, stay away from your office, give up on recreation and socializing… But maybe there’s a different way to handle this. Throughout my career — and especially here at the Sears Institute for Anti-Aging Medicine — I’ve sought to make my patients, employees, and readers healthier, more vital, and more resistant to disease. Few people are talking about why this virus is mostly a threat to elders or people who already have a disease diagnosis. Truth is, almost all the people who died from the coronavirus had what we call “comorbidities,” which means they had underlying conditions that weakened their immune systems. The way I interpret this is that the vast majority of people who were infected were able to defend themselves and recover… whether they were people who had symptoms and recovered within a few weeks, or people who showed no symptoms and didn’t even realize they had it. I want my patients, employees, and readers to be in the group that recover without ever knowing they were battling a virus.
