Enhancing Collaboration between Clinician-Researchers and Methodologists in Clinical Research
Recent concerns about the reproducibility of scientific research emphasize the need for research to be conducted in a methodologically rigorous manner using robust designs and the application of appropriate statistical methods.1-3 Clinical research may be initiated by clinician-researchers who identify research ideas and then seek collaborators with methodologic expertise to conduct the study. Some clinician-researchers have undergone graduate training, have experience in quantitative methods, and can lead the design and conduct of clinical studies using accepted scientific principles and methods.
