Autopsy CT scanning: a coroner's viewpoint

This article comments upon the benefits and problems of post-mortem examination by, or with the assistance, of CT scanning. The author was HM Senior Coroner for a Yorkshire jurisdiction before retiring in January 2020. The jurisdiction was the first in England& Wales to introduce CT scanning on a wide scale. The widespread use of CT autopsy has proceeded well and without specific problems. It remains to be seen how long local authorities can continue to fund the increasing costs.
