Despite the many benefits of neonatal circumcision, as the authors outlined their manuscript, it still remains a somewhat controversial topic in the United States. As circumcision is still considered an elective procedure, some argue that it should not be performed until the child is old enough to make his own decision. Although the recent California SB201 was rejected by the California Senate, it highlights the present controversy of operating on the neonate or child. Nevertheless, circumcision in the United States remains a decision that caregivers can make for their child.
