Honeycomb Decidual Pattern of the Endometrium in a Patient with Cesarean Section Scar Ectopic Pregnancy: An Unusual Presentation of a Physiologic Process

Decidualization of the endometrium is a complex physiologic process that occurs in preparation for implantation of the blastocyst [1,2]. In humans, the trophoblast invasion extends up to the junctional zone located in the inner third of the myometrium [3]. Endometrial decidualization is a global hormonal process that occurs as a consequence of progesterone production by the corpus luteum that precedes the arrival of the blastocyst [4]. These changes also occur in the case of an ectopic pregnancy.
