Clinical outcomes and the role of bronchoscopic intervention in patients with primary pulmonary salivary gland-type tumors

Primary pulmonary salivary gland-type tumors (PSGTs) are rare tumors that account for less than 1.0% of all lung cancers [1 –3]. According to the World Health Organization criteria classification of lung tumors, salivary gland-type tumors are divided into the following types: adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC), mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC), epithelial-myoepithelial carcinoma (EMC), and pleomorphic adenoma [4]. The most c ommon subtypes include ACC and MEC, which comprise>90% of PSGTs [2]. The EMC and pleomorphic adenomas are extremely rare and have only been sporadically documented [5].
