Comparison and Validation of Preoperative Planning Techniques for Distal Femoral Osteotomies and Proximal Tibial Osteotomies

In this study, we aim to compare the Sectra osteotomy tool versus the mCORA technique to measure the osteotomy angles as well as wedge sizes in both DFOs and PTOs to validate this new tool.We enrolled n = 30 consecutive patients with DFOs and n = 30 PTOs from the last year. The Pearson correlation coefficient (PCC) along with descriptive statistics was used to evaluate for similarity between the two techniques. We also compared interobserver and intraobserver reliability using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC).The PCC for osteotomy angles in DFOs and PTOs were both 0.998 (p

This article reports on maxillary canine autotransplantations combined with connective tissue grafts (CTGs) and orthodontics. The recipient mesiodistal space was created orthodontically and the recipient socket was prepared using dental implant drills. Following transplantation, bone defects were grafted using guided bone regeneration (GBR). At 4 years post-transplantation, the soft tissue level was stable and periapical radiographs showed a practically normal contour of the alveolar crest around teeth 13 and 23. The two permanent canines presented no root resorption and ankylosis, and no signs of inflammation or bleeding ...

ABSTRACT A healthy 15-year-old boy with anterior open bite, edge-to-edge transverse discrepancy, and Class III skeletal relationship sought a nonsurgical orthodontic treatment. The patient was treated with premolars extraction, a Hyrax expander and intrusion mechanics with vertical elastics. This mechanics allowed for excellent facial and occlusal results. The final occlusion presented Class I molar and canine relationships, ideal overjet and overbite, and straight facial profile. Analysis of the posttreatment and follow-up radiographs showed that the treatment outcomes remained stable seven years after active orthodontic ...

Marsupialization, designed to reduce the mandibular cyst volume, has continued to debated regarding its influence on the healing of the related bone cavity. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the 3-dimensional radiographic variation over time in mandibular odontogenic cystic lesions after marsupialization and assess the correlations between these variations and variables that can affect the procedure.

The natural history of fibrous dysplasia(FD) is poorly understood. The purpose of this study was to identify differences in demographic, clinical and radiographic characteristics among patients with craniofacial fibrous dysplasia including: McCune-Albright syndrome(MAS), polyostotic FD(PFD) and monostotic FD(MFD). We hypothesized that subjects with MAS would demonstrate higher disease severity, more complications and undergo more operations than those with PFD/MFD.

ConclusionOur method generates X-rays realistic enough to be indistinguishable from real X-rays. We also show that synthetic images generated using this method can be used to increase the accuracy of deep classifiers on clinically meaningful subsets of fracture X-rays.

ABSTRACT A 45-year-old man presents with occipital headache for about one month, resistant to analgesic therapy, and palpable nodule at the pain site. At initial evaluation, the nodule was 1.5 cm in diameter without apparent skin alteration. Ultrasonography revealed a well-defined osteolytic lesion and doubtful communication with the dura mater. The study was complemented with computed tomography and contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance, both identifying lytic lesion with soft tissue component and contrast enhancement, without diffusion restriction, guiding the diagnostic hypothesis of eosinophilic granuloma. Surgical trea...
