Reduced chronic pain: Another benefit of recovery at an inpatient rehabilitation facility over a skilled nursing facility?

Table of Contents Summary: We found that injured patients who were discharged to an IRF were less likely to have chronic pain necessitating medication 6 –12 months post-injury as compared to a matched cohort of patients discharged to a SNF. Interestingly, at least at the time point assessed, there were no differences between groups with regards to functional outcomes and SF-12 physical and mental composite scores.
