Cirrhosis induced spontaneous orbital hemorrhage
A 60-year-old man with decompensated alcoholic-cirrhosis and consequent coagulopathy was being treated in our intensive care unit while waitlisted for simultaneous liver-kidney transplantation (SLKT). Without prior symptomatology, the patient developed sudden-onset right-sided eye pain (cough-aggravated), blurry vision and diplopia. Ophthalmologic exam revealed right periorbital edema, ecchymosis, proptosis and conjunctival injection (Fig. 1); visual acuity of 20/80 bilaterally, and right and left intraocularpressures (IOPs) of 19 and 14 mmHg, respectively.
