Vertebral artery dissection after a chiropractor neck manipulation.
This report illustrates the potential hazards associated with neck trauma, including chiropractic manipulation. The vertebral arteries are at risk for aneurysm formation and/or dissection, which can cause acute stroke. PMID: 25552813 [PubMed]

Authors: Shibayama Y, Wada N, Baba S, Obara S, Sakai H, Usubuchi H, Terae S, Nakamura A, Atsumi T Abstract Patients with primary aldosteronism (PA) are complicated by metabolic syndrome more frequently than those without PA. Hyperaldosteronism has been reported to be associated with a higher prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). We aimed to clarify the risk factors for hepatic steatosis in the two subtypes of PA, comparing the status of hepatic steatosis in each of these subtypes. This was a retrospective observational study. We enrolled patients with an aldosterone producing adenoma (APA) (n = 3...
We present the case of a patient with a large, partially cystic intrathyroidal parathyroid adenoma which was initially identified as a malignant thyroid nodule. We discuss the caveats that present in these rare cases and the important clinical and histological features that aid in the final diagnosis. In the case of our patient the cytological similarities between thyroid malignant cells and parathyroid cells, in combination with the negative sestamibi scan, resulted in a more invasive surgery than that a single parathyroid adenoma would require. Clinicians need to be vigilant in terms of the similarities between parathyro...
CONCLUSIONS: Arabinofuranose ‐derived18F PET radiotracers can be synthesized with high radiochemical purity. Our study showed absence of bacterial accumulation for 5 ‐substitued analogs, a finding that may have mechanistic implications for related tracers. Bothd‐2‐18F ‐AF andl‐2‐18F ‐AF showed sensitivity to most gram‐negative and gram‐positive organisms. Future in vivo studies will evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of these radiotracers in animal models of infection.
Conclusions: In the Canadian setting, the acceptance of rebiopsy on progression was high. Multiple rebiopsies were clinically feasible and could increase the yield for T790M mutation. The incidence of complications was low despite the most common site for rebiopsy being lung. PMID: 32218657 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
In this study, we review various types of AF, proposed mechanisms, and treatment strategies for athletes with AF.
This study suggests that MCT is associated with the modulation of ReHo in schizophrenia. ReHo in the right precuneus and left superior MPFC may predict individual therapeutic response for MCT in patients with schizophrenia. PMID: 32215727 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
Diffuse leiomyomatous disease is a rare manifestation of Alport Syndrome. When identified, it has been associated with symptoms of reflux and dysphagia secondary to esophageal disease. There is scant published literature on genitourinary complaints in female patients with Alport Syndrome found to have leiomyomata in the genital tract outside of the uterine cavity.
