Powerful evidence on HELLP syndrome from a routine health database.

Powerful evidence on HELLP syndrome from a routine health database. BJOG. 2020 May 09;: Authors: Cecatti JG Abstract Hypertension associated with pregnancy is the first or second contributor to the burden of maternal death and severe maternal morbidity, depending on the income level of the heath care setting (WHO, Maternal mortality: Levels and trends, 2000 to 2017. Geneva: WHO, 2019). Although its pathophysiology is still not fully understood and it is relatively uncommon, HELLP syndrome is one of the most severe hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. Due to its relatively low prevalence rate, data regarding frequency, risk factors and associated maternal and perinatal outcomes are limited to small series from individual tertiary referral centres.
