A Systematic Review on Balance Performance in Patients With Bilateral Vestibulopathy.

CONCLUSIONS: During clinical assessment to quantify balance control in patients with BVP, tasks involving multisensory perturbations should be implemented in the test protocol. IMPACT: As patients with BVP show difficulties with movement strategies, control of dynamics, orientation in space and cognitive processing, clinicians should implement these aspects of balance control in their assessment protocol to fully comprehend the balance deficits in these patients. I just got into a program that is on a funny schedule and starts in January 2021. It want to apply to more schools for other (cheaper) options but I am nervous I won't hear back from any other program until after this program starts so it would be a waste of application fees. If I submit my applications by August could I get an early interview and have time to decide?!

When the diagnosis of myasthenia gravis (MG) has been secured, the aim of management should be prompt symptom control and the induction of remission or minimal manifestations. Symptom control, with acetylcholinesterase inhibitors such as pyridostigmine, is commonly employed. This may be sufficient in mild disease. There is no single universally accepted treatment regimen. Corticosteroids are the mainstay of immunosuppressive treatment in patients with more than mild MG to induce remission. Immunosuppressive therapies, such as azathioprine are prescribed in addition to but sometimes instead of corticosteroids when backgroun...

This study aimed to identify factors associated with the development of posttraumatic elbow joint contracture. METHODS: A retrospective review of elbow fractures (AO/Orthopaedic Trauma Association [OTA] type 13 and 21) treated at one institution between 2011 and 2015 was performed. Data collected included demographics, injury information, treatment, and postoperative elbow range of motion (ROM). Multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify factors associated with contracture development. Notable contracture was defined as an arc of motion less than 100° flexion/extension, which has been asso...

Authors: Thomas C, Le JT, Benson E Abstract Lymphatic flow plays a notable role in the regulation of bone formation and remodeling. Chronic accumulation of the lymph fluid within tissues may lead to issues with proper bone healing after fractures, emphasizing the importance of proper management of lymphedema after trauma. Many associated risk factors place patients at risk for lymphedema, including previous surgery with nodal dissection, radiation therapy, infection, malignancy, family history of congenital lymphedema, and trauma. The benchmark imaging technique for the diagnosis of lymphedema is lymphoscintigraphy...

Laine Miranda Rennie Kaori L. Ito James Finley Sook-Lei Liew Severe impairment of limb movement after stroke can be challenging to address in the chronic stage of stroke (e.g., greater than 6 months post stroke). Recent evidence suggests that physical therapy can still promote meaningful recovery after this stage, but the required high amount of therapy is difficult to deliver within the scope of ...

Authors: Bland M, Stevens A, Nellis P, Mueggenburg K, Yau T, Chen JC Abstract Interprofessional education is becoming a requirement for accreditation of most health profession programs, therefore it is necessary to share innovative experiences so all can learn from the successes and barriers of implementation. Faculty members from five health profession programs (medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy, and physical therapy) were tasked with developing a pilot interprofessional education experience focused on transitions of care. The result was a three-phase experience in which students individually compl...
