Honey-comb Decidual Pattern of the Endometrium in a Patient with Cesarean Section Scar Ectopic Pregnancy: An Unusual Presentation of a Physiologic Process
Decidualization of the endometrium is a complex physiologic process that occurs in preparation of implantation of the blastocyst (1, 2). In humans, the throphoblastic invasion extends up to the junctional zone located in the inner third of the myometrium (3). Endometrial decidualization is a global hormonal process that occurs as a consequence of progesterone production by the corpus luteum that precedes the arrival of the blastocyst (4). These changes also occur in the case of ectopic pregnancy.
