Incidence of adverse events among elderly vs non-elderly patients during procedural sedation and analgesia with propofol

The problems associated with an aging society have been recognized for quite some time. In Japan, the ratio of individuals 65  years or older has risen from 5.1% in 1950 to 8.3% in 2015, and will continue to rise rapidly over the next half century [1].
