Predictors of narcolepsy and hypersomnia due to medical disorder in pediatric craniopharyngioma
ConclusionsThis study describes the prevalence and associated predictors of hypersomnia for patients with craniopharyngioma after surgical resection. HI was predictive of narcolepsy diagnosis, and a higher body mass index z-score was associated with hypersomnia due to medical condition and narcolepsy. We recommend that sleep assessment and intervention begin after surgical resection, especially in overweight or obese patients and those with extensive tumors.
Authors: Siamashvili M, Davis S Abstract INTRODUCTION: Bromocriptine mesylate quick release (QR) is a dopamine D2 receptor agonist and is the only oral, primarily centrally acting drug that can be used for the treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes. AREAS COVERED: The authors describe current recommendations on the use of bromocriptine mesylate QR. Major efficacy and safety parameters of the late phase trials, including The Cycloset Safety Trial, have been identified and presented. EXPERT OPINION: Efficacy of bromocriptine mesylate QR monotherapy appears to be low but is compensated by favorable safety pr...

CONCLUSION: When gastroenterologists encounter NAFLD/NASH patients, serum CK should be verified. If hyperCKemia, frontal baldness, a hatched face, history of cataract surgery, and grip myotonia are noted, the possibility of MD may be considered. PMID: 33033573 [PubMed]

Authors: Frías JP Abstract INTRODUCTION: The glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists (RA) have increasingly gained prominence in the treatment of type 2 diabetes (T2D) based on their glycemic benefits and favorable body weight and cardiorenal effects. Despite this, continued development of therapeutics with superior efficacy is important to help address persistent challenges in the attainment of metabolic goals in many patients with T2D. AREAS COVERED: Tirzepatide is an unimolecular dual glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP)/GLP-1 RA in development for the treatment of T2D. This re...
In this study, we investigated the potential effects of pineapple vinegar as an antiobesity agent on a high-fat diet- (HFD-) induced C57BL/6 obese mice. C57BL/6 mice were treated with pineapple vinegar (1 mL/kg BW and 0.08 mL/kg BW) for 12 weeks after 24 weeks of HFD incubation. Serum biochemistry profiles, antioxidant assays, qPCR, proteome profiler, and 16S metagenomic were done posttreatment. Our data showed that a high concentration of pineapple vinegar (1 mL/kg BW) treatment significantly (p
