Combined use of endoscopy to guide laparoscopic management of intra-luminal bleeding from the staple-line following sleeve gastrectomy: a video case report.
Unlike Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) where “intra-luminal” bleeding is relatively common from the anastomosis(1-5), “intra-luminal” hemorrhage from the staple-line is extremely rare after sleeve gastrectomy (SG). Unstable hemodynamics after aggressive medical treatment will require emergency re-intervention. The preferred option in t he management of intra-luminal anastomotic bleeding following a RYGB is gastroscopic hemostasis, providing the anastomosis is accessible.(1-5) However, intra-luminal staple-line bleeding after an SG may well be an exception to this management algorithm.
